Steve Harvey is Back to Host Miss Universe 2017

Despite of the mess he made in last year’s Miss Universe comedian Steve Harvey is back to host the coronation night of Miss Universe 2017 which will take on January 30, 2017 in Manila, Philippines. The gorgeous model Ashley Graham will be alongside with Steve Harvey serving as backstage host during the live broadcast.

The Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who is known for his unfiltered speech expressed unwillingness to accept Harvey as the host in the upcoming Miss Universe 2017. This hesitation is quite understandable since is the major fiasco he made in last year’s Miss Universe is hard to forget. If have been living under the stone, Steve Harvey incorrectly announced the winner of Miss Universe 2016. He announced that Ariadna Gutierrez of Colombia as winner. Gutierrez received the crown, sash, and bouquet of flowers, and then enjoyed a moment's celebration waving to the crowd, before Harvey spoke up: "I have to apologize, the first runner-up is Colombia," he said over the crowd's cheers. "Let me just take control of this. This is exactly what's on the card."

He continued holding up the piece of paper that indicated the crown actually went to Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines. "I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake ... horrible mistake," he added.

In my opinion, I found Steve Harvey as competent host. He is funny and actually knows how to handle awkward situation. Among the hosts in the Miss Universe pageant since 2000, I would put Steve Harvey in my top 3. He would be in the Top 1 if not of the mess he made during the announcement of winners. Hopefully he won’t repeat the same error again this year. Let’s watch Miss Universe 2017 to see if Steve Harvey gets it right this year.
